CASE STUDY
For over two decades, I was a high performer in corporate America. Along the way, I learned to speak in “corporate talk” and to translate my value into tidy bullet points that would fit neatly into performance reviews. I became fluent in the language of prioritization and cross-functional collaboration. But somewhere in the process, I started to lose sight of what actually made me me.
I had overcompensated to fit the corporate mold. I began defining myself by other people’s metrics and eventually felt like a diluted, inauthentic version of myself. I knew I had so much more to offer, yet I had standardized myself to meet the standards corporations needed to “fairly” evaluate me. Instead of lifting me up, those metrics flattened me into my lowest common denominator. My confidence faded, and the story I told myself no longer felt true. I was dimmed, dull like a cardboard cutout of myself and bored.

Most importantly, she helped me step out of the toxic cycle of never feeling like enough. I no longer needed to prove myself against a corporate standard. I began to own my own story. I became more interesting to myself, and to others. I embraced my magic. I felt special again.
